Amazon Villa

Amazon Villa is situated within the Tambopata Research Center in the heart of the Amazon. The several local tribes are the main human inhabitants of the area – otherwise it is largely uninhabited apart from the wildlife and plants, which are naturally conserved and protected due to their precedence here and the lack of human disturbance.

The remoteness of the location ensures an incredible feeling of being alone in the rainforest, with adventure quite literally at your doorstep.

The villa is decorated in true Amazonian style - designed by local Esa Eje artists, the hotel reflects its surroundings and has a wholly authentic feel to it. The inviting interiors have tropical hardwood floors, bamboo-covered walls and hammocks to relax in.

A private chef freshly cooks your meals for you every day (chosen yourself from a menu every morning), which will be delivered to the hotel’s dining room. Tuck in while enjoying the panoramic views. Some excursions also include a la carte meals, so you don’t miss out on gourmet cuisine even in the heart of the rainforest. Back at the villa, you can also help yourself to water, tea/coffee and juice throughout the day, and there is a refrigerator and microwave for the use of guests.  

Ask to visit the canopy tower, which has stunning views across the top of the forest from 30 metres above ground.

It’s all about the rainforest here, but at the villa, you can relax in a hammock after a day’s adventures, and refuel in style with a sizzling barbecue in the garden.

See macaws and wild rainforest pigs at the clay licks – this is a fantastic way to see the animals in large groups and observe them interacting with each other. If you’re a budding photographer, you’ll be in heaven as photo opportunities are constant, especially with the amazing display of colour you can see when hundreds of macaws descend on the Amazonian clay.

In the evening, enjoy a scenic two-hour sunset cruise on the serene waters of the Tambopata River: this is a beautiful way to experience the spectacular setting, as you sip wine while watching the rainforest change from day to night as you glide along.  The rainforest isn’t just spectacular by day - it comes completely to life at night, which you can witness on a thrilling night walk through the jungle, with your guide pointing out some of the hundreds of species of mammals, reptiles and amphibians that call the rainforest home.

Kayaking, paddle-boarding and mountain biking are just some of the other activities available to help you explore Tambopata, and you can also visit a jungle farm to taste exotic fruit and discover the rainforest’s many medicinal plants.
