Itinerary details

3 nightsLIMA

Your gastronomic adventure begins in the Peruvian capital, Lima, home to pretty colonial architecture, pounding nightlife, and – of course – ceviche! Lima makes a good claim to being the culinary capital of South America (and that’s saying something), with no end of fantastic eateries ranging from street stalls to top-end restaurants. Your experience will begin touring local fish, fruit and vegetable markets before an expert-led cookery class where you’ll whip up a fantastic lunch; washing that down with some quality local pisco, you’ll explore the bohemian Barranco district and browse pre-Colombian textiles at the Amano Museum. Your day ends in the ultimate style with a Peruvian tasting menu and wine pairing at the iconic Central Restaurante. Your home for the first three nights is Hotel B, a stylish boutique property housed in a Belle Epoque mansion.

3 nightsMILLAHUE

After savouring some of the finest cuisine that Peru has to offer, your attention turns to Chile, as you board a flight from Lima to Santiago. You’ll spend the next three nights in the Millahue Valley at Vina Vik, an ultra-stylish boutique hotel and one of the country’s finest wineries. Here, you’ll enjoy a barbecue in the style of the traditional huaso – Chile’s answer to the gaucho cowboys of Argentina – sample acclaimed Clos Apalta wines, and enjoy another visit to a local market followed by an expert cookery class, where you’ll pick up some of the secrets of Chilean cuisine.

3 nightsMENDOZA

The penultimate stop on your journey sees you crossing the border into Argentina, and – getting straight down to business – heading for Mendoza, the heart of Argentine wine country. You’ll spend three nights at Casa de Uco, a fantastic resort in the Uco Valley where wine is very much the main attraction. As well as no end of tasting activities in the cellar, there’s even ‘vinotherapy’ on offer at the spa – lending new meaning to the term ‘pickled’. Happily, you can line your stomach with fantastic regional cuisine courtesy of chefs Pablo and Carlos.

Buenos Aires

The final leg of your gastronomic adventure sees you arrive in Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital, where you'll stay at Park Hyatt Palacio Duhau. When many people think of Argentine cuisine, they think of meat – specifically succulent steaks – and you’ll spend one of your days here learning all about the tradition of asado, the traditional Argentine barbecue. First you’ll visit a local market where you’ll be guided through the various cuts of meat and choose the best one for the barbecue, with some salami and cheese for the first course. You’ll then pick up some fresh salad before stopping in at a bakery, and you’ll finally fire up the barbecue and learn all about traditional asado cooking techniques. An evening tour will take you to some of BA’s many speakeasy bars, which you’d otherwise never know existed.
