Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Titilaka sits on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake and a national reserve, which is home to rare birds, fish and the floating reed islands of the Uro people. Its magical name suits its spectacular location, where the combination of altitude, isolation and scale produces a unique eco-system with its own distinctive flora and fauna, and a rich folkloric heritage. This cradle of Inca civilisation remains the home of one of the oldest communities in South America.

Rooms at Titilaka

The suites all have spectacular views over the lake, and combine an attractive contemporary style - including iPod docks, comfortable lounges with banquettes overlooking the water and deluxe bathrooms with heated floors - with influences from the unique local heritage and natural wonders of the area.

Food & Drink

Feast on delicious dishes, exquisitely prepared using local ingredients, by the fireplace in the dining room or in the privacy and comfort of your suite.

Facilities

After a day exploring the lake and its surrounds, unwind in the fabulous lake-view spa, which has private massage therapy rooms, or in the inviting heated pool overlooking the lake. There's also a media room.

Activities at Titilaka

There are numerous private excursions to choose from, by mountain bike, car, boat, horseback or on foot, with the main draw of course being the lake and its islands. The Boat House offers the unique opportunity to set sail on a kayak, sunfish sailboat or Canadian canoe more than 12,000 feet above sea level.

Head out on the water to visit Taquile Island, whose historic Quechua textiles have been recognised by UNESCO, and the floating islands of Uros, which are built using totara reed and are home to the Uros-Titino people, who are experts in rafting and textile weaving, by which they make their living. During your stay, you will have the opportunity to find out more about local cultures and traditions, and learn these ancient techniques yourself.

Other attractions in the area include the fascinating archaeological complex of Sillustani and the beautiful churches of Puno.
