Suasi Island is blissfully remote, sheltering below flower-strewn terraces on its own private island on Lake Titicaca. It is rustically built from adobe and totora reed, is solar-powered, and has spectacular views over the vast lake. As for other inhabitants, you’re most likely to see alpacas and vicunas roaming across this tiny dot of an island.

Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Suasi Island is on a private 43-hectare island on the north-eastern edge of Lake Titicaca.

Rooms at Suasi Island

You’ll feel like you could step right out onto the tranquil lake, thanks to the perfect views from the large windows and sunny balconies of your room, surrounded by gardens of flowers. There are 24 magically rustic rooms, with sloped ceilings, wooden beams and skylights. For even more seclusion, there’s a two-bedroom cottage perched right on the edge of the lake, with its own private beach and dock. You haven’t experienced true serenity until you’ve stayed in this enchanting place.

Food & Drink

The restaurant serves elegant and sophisticated cuisine, using native grains such as quinoa and indigenous meats such as alpaca, as well as local breads, cheeses and fresh fish. A superb selection of Peruvian and imported wines and spirits can be enjoyed in the fire-warmed bar, where most guests end their night with a nightcap and some billiards or board games.

Facilities

After a day around and on the lake, visit the massage room and eucalyptus sauna to unwind and relax - enjoy a hot stone massage accompanied by music, candles and incense.

Activities at Suasi Island

Suasi Island is, for many, a mystical place to disconnect from the world. Enjoy a quiet nature walk or hike to Mount Itapilluni to contemplate colourful high-altitude sunsets and see wildlife such as rare vicunas and rabbit-like vizcachas. Out on the lake, paddle a canoe or go kayaking around the island and observe birds such as flightless grebes and Andean geese.

In the evening, enjoy stargazing around the bonfire with a glass of wine.
