Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Casa El Eden is housed in a beautiful early-20th century mansion, painted pastel blue and overlooking a peaceful central courtyard. In keeping with its surroundings in the Old City of Quito, the ceilings and walls are adorned with paintings and architectural features of the storied Quito School. The mansion has been beautifully maintained to preserve its original features.

Rooms at Casa El Eden

Casa El Eden is home to just six guestrooms, ensuring a quiet and intimate stay. Each has a unique aesthetic, but they are all traditional, elegant and tasteful in their design. Maracuya features exposed beams and beautiful hand-painted wall art, with exquisite images of flowers. Tomate de Arbol and Pitahaya have a slightly more rugged aesthetic, with hand-carved wooden beds and furnishings. The largest room, Guanabana, has a lovely setting overlooking a central courtyard and no fewer than two bathrooms.

Food & Drink

Breakfast is delicious, with a wide range of exotic fruits and freshly pressed juices, home-baked bread and cooked options all made to order. Everything’s washed down with a hot cup of local Ecuadorian coffee – the perfect way to start the day. Friendly owners Mario and Blanca will happily advise on nearby spots for lunch and dinner, and will help you to book a table. The nearby Theatrum is an acclaimed restaurant and wine bar in a historic setting within the National Theatre.

Facilities

On the top floor of the beautiful mansion lies a peaceful rooftop terrace, which is a fantastic spot to relax with a glass of wine and take in panoramic views over Quito. Mario and Blanca will happily help to arrange your day trips and excursions and can set you up with the best tour guides in the area, whether you’re interested in cultural sightseeing or mountain trekking.

Activities at Casa El Eden

Casa El Eden’s central location means that many of Quito’s historic and cultural attractions lie a ten-minute walk away or less. These include the Plaza de la Independencia, a symbol of the Ecuadorian government and the city’s largest public square, where you can sit and watch the city go by. El Museo Francisco contains fascinating collections of art and sculpture dating back over 400 years, while the Iglesia de la Compania de Jesus is a stunningly ornate church dating back to 1605.
