Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Hacienda Bambusa sits in the south of the Zona Cafetera, in the heart of lush green countryside.

Rooms at Hacienda Bambusa

The hacienda is full of character, and is in the traditional style of houses in the region. There are just eight light and spacious rooms here, arranged around an attractive central courtyard with a tinkling fountain, and they all have a private balcony or terrace, guaranteeing privacy and seclusion. They are the epitome of rustic chic, with whitewashed walls adorned with colourful artworks, bamboo beams, shuttered windows and warm clay tiles.

Relax on the veranda in hammock, listening to the hummingbirds (each room is named after one of the hundreds of birds in the region) and taking in the views over the countryside and the mountains beyond – don’t miss the sunsets over the Andes.

Food & Drink

Colombia is known for its warm welcome and hearty cuisine – and Hacienda Bambusa is no exception. Enjoy fresh fruit and homemade feasts, and of course, fresh coffee, on the veranda, or head into the bamboo forest for a secluded picnic. As well as a highly recommended tasting menu each evening, served by candlelight, the chef is happy to create personalised menus to suit you.

Facilities

There is a beautiful pool to cool off in, with poolside sun loungers perfect for whiling away the hours – choose a book from the hacienda’s collection to get lost in.

Activities

Enjoy a guided tour of the pretty gardens and the coffee plantations nearby, and discover how Colombia’s world-famous coffee is produced. Around the Zona Cafetera, explore the lush countryside on foot or horseback, crossing hills and rivers. Adrenaline seekers will love venturing down the river in a bamboo raft, soaring above the landscapes in a hot air balloon, or embarking on a thrilling paragliding adventure or a zipline ride above the banana plantations.

Hotel location

Hacienda Bambusa is a half-hour drive from Armenia airport. Private transfers from the airport to the hacienda can be arranged.
