Rooms at Palacio Astoreca

The 23 rooms at this Relais & Chateaux hotel possess original elements of the Victorian house but with stylish upgrades, like elegant wallpapers on one wall, wood panelling and luxe fabrics throughout. Each room is uniquely styled, with splendid views of Valparaiso. Choose from standard and premium rooms or junior suite and deluxe suite; all suites have freestanding tubs in the bedroom. Plus, the beds are exceedingly comfortable.

Food and facilities

Fine dining may be an understatement for Alegre, the hotel’s chic, monochrome restaurant. With Michelin star chef, Francisco Araya, at the helm, Alegre produces some of the most exquisite dishes in the country. Aside from the restaurant there’s also a piano lounge bar, where you can listen to live jazz; a wine cellar; the terrace with its unparalleled vistas of the bay; and the library, offering an assortment of books on art, travel and literature.

Activities at Palacio Astoreca

Dip into the sleek hotel spa, with its indoor pool, hammam, treatment room and the special wood-fired hot tub. Head to Pablo Neruda’s old house, La Sebastiana, which is a now a museum dedicated to the Chilean politician and poet. If you wind your way downhill into town you don’t need to worry about the climb home: there’s a funicular close to the hotel to sweep you back up.
