Hotel Overview

Sense of place

El Mirador de Guadal sits by Lago General Carrera, fringed by its own beach. Tucked away among snow-capped mountains and lush greenery, it is the ideal place for exploring. The lodge finds the perfect middle ground between seclusion and centricity - it is set in a tranquil spot yet is an hour’s drive away from the nearest main town and the sights of southern Carretera Austral.

Rooms at El Mirador de Guadal

El Mirador’s wood cabins are set apart from each other for maximum privacy and feature a rustic style in spacious interiors which have living areas and cosy fireplaces. There are standard rooms, superior rooms and two-bedroom family suites, which each have their own private balcony, and décor is minimal to keep the focus on the stunning views over the lake, the mountains and the pristine glaciers of the Northern Ice Field.

Food & drink

In keeping with the rustic theme, the restaurant is constructed using local Cypress and Lenga wood for a warm and comfortable atmosphere. It serves authentic Chilean and Peruvian dishes using fresh fish alongside organic vegetables and herbs sourced from the lodge’s garden, followed by homemade desserts. There are also barbecues held on the terrace against the backdrop of the lake, where prime meat cuts are served, and you can enjoy a pisco sour as the sun sets.

Facilities

There is a terrace to relax on after a day’s exploring, and the lodge may be remote, but it has Wi-Fi, so you can decide how much you would like to disconnect yourself from the outside world in this private haven.

Activities at El Mirador de Guadal

In this prime location, you have access to a number of activities, from boat tours and kayaking on the lake to glacier walks and treks to the Maqui Waterfall over the hills, during which you’ll be treated to panoramic views over the lake and the glaciers of the Northern Ice Field. Or head out on horseback - a lovely way to take in the surroundings. You can enjoy these activities and more with or without guides, who are happy to take requests on any activities you would like to do and personalise your experiences for you.

An hour’s drive will bring you to attractions such as the Marble Caves and Patagonia National Park.
