Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Awasi Atacama is in the historic town of San Pedro de Atacama, not far from the main square.

Rooms at Awasi Atacama

The spacious and characterful suites have been elegantly built using local materials and inspired by pre-Incan ruins nearby. The adobe walls, wood floors and thatched roofs give each suite a natural, earthy feel, and the round shape and natural materials ensure the suites are cool during the day and warm during the chillier nights.

They are designed with rest and relaxation in mind, with comfortable armchairs with cosy alpaca blankets, outdoor showers and private patios, shaded from the sun by the tall trees during the day and a perfect spot for stargazing at night in some of the world's clearest skies.

Food & Drink

A team of expert chefs whip up delicious dishes, including tasty regional specialities, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and flavours of the desert that have formed part of the local diet for thousands of years, such as  different varieties of potatoes, quinoa, the sweet chanar fruit and algarrobo (carob). Dine under the stars in the open-air restaurant and relax around the fire pit with a refreshing drink.

Facilities

Awasi Atacama has a swimming pool for cooling dips during the heat of the day as well as plenty of shady spots to relax with a good book. There’s also a masseuse on hand to ease any aching muscles after a day in the desert.

Activities at Awasi Atacama

Each suite is assigned its own 4x4 vehicle and private guide, enabling activities to be tailored to suit you and allowing you to explore exactly where and how you want each day, with your highly knowledgeable guides taking you to little visited areas and hidden gems.

Travel through incredible lunar landscapes, enjoy desert walks, go horse riding over sand dunes and mountain biking across vast and eerie salt flats, and visit high altitude geysers and climb volcanoes. See giant cacti, flamingos and vicunas. It’s also well worth mooching around the fascinating little oasis town of San Pedro - the historic centre, including the church, the square and the market, is right on the doorstep.
