Cristalino Lodge

The Cristalino Lodge sits beside the Cristalino River, within a private forest reserve in Mato Grosso, in the southern part of the Brazilian Amazon. The eco-lodge borders the Cristalino State Park, a significant Amazon conservation area.

Drop off to sleep to the soothing sound of the river, and wake up with the sunrise and the sound of the howler monkeys in the forest. The light and spacious rooms and bungalows, nestled amongst the banana trees, are built of wood, with cosy beds, comfortable armchairs and cool ceramic tile flooring, and are naturally ventilated with ceiling air ducts.

The rooms bring the outside in with screens in the windows, enabling you to enjoy not only the views of the jungle, but its sounds and smells too - and you can take them in by relaxing in a hammock on your veranda. Some rooms also have private gardens with bathtubs. The water is solar heated, in keeping with the eco-lodge’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Enjoy a candlelit dinner of gourmet Brazilian cuisine, including regional and seasonal favourites, with dishes that make the most of organic fruit and vegetables and fresh fish - followed by a refreshing caipirinha at the bar.  

Unwind with some yoga - the lodge has yoga and meditation classes, combined with daily nature activities, aimed to relax and rejuvenate. For more relaxation, visit the reading room, which is full of books about the Amazon, where you also can hear the guides’ tales as they bring the area to life.

In the evening, relax on the idyllic floating deck, overlooking the river and the dense greenery of the forest, where you can take in the views and listen to the birdsong as you swap stories around the open fire - and don't miss the chance to do some stargazing. 

Indulge your passions during your holiday in these beautiful surroundings with a photography workshop or a birdwatching tour (there are around 600 bird species here, as well as 2,000 butterfly species). Visit the observation tower for panoramic views, and go on a guided hike through the forest to see white-cheeked spider monkeys, Brazilian tapirs, anteaters and a wide range of birds from forest falcons to the colourful crimson-bellied conure, as well as Brazil nut trees and fig trees.

Head out on the water on a boat trip or in a canoe, and observe the wildlife in the river and around the riverbanks, including giant river otters. For a memorable experience, enjoy a moonlight river cruise - while the sunrises and sunsets are also spectacular.
