Hotel Overview

Sense of place

The hotel is set around lovely courtyards dotted with mango trees, with each room looking out over the gardens. The atmosphere at the hotel is friendly and welcoming, and staff will bend over backwards to ensure that your stay is as enjoyable as possible.

Rooms at La Alondra

La Alondra’s rooms and suites are stylishly designed in a shabby-chic, rustic style, with exposed wooden beams and panelled ceilings, red brick walls a beautiful polished floors. Mosaic floors and clawfoot tubs in the bathrooms lend an air of Old World sophistication, as do the studded Chesterfield beds and heavy, dark wooden doors. All the rooms surround a lovely courtyard full of mango trees.

Food & Drink

In La Alondra’s elegant restaurant, an Argentine-meets-international menu is presented, with an emphasis on traditional, regional cuisine; specialities include empanadas and sumptuous grilled steaks, accompanied of course by fine Argentinean wine. Breakfast entails a hearty spread of fresh fruit, pastries, and Mesopotamian specialities such as chipa cheese buns.

Facilities

The hotel’s outdoor pool, shaded by mango trees, is a lovely spot perfect for cooling off in the afternoon sun. The beautiful old library is a cosy, inviting space, with entire walls taken up with all manner of books and volumes, and comfy leather armchairs for you to sink into and read them.

Activities at La Alondra

La Alondra’s position, right in the heart of Corrientes, is perfect for exploring the old buildings and rich indigenous culture of this elegant city. Many of the city’s cultural attractions are within a short walk from the hotel, including the Santa Rita de Casia church and the Plaza Juan de Vera; a walk along the costanera waterfront is an unbeatable way to get a feel for the atmosphere of the city. Corrientes’ magnificent cathedral, dating from the 19th century, is also well worth a visit. The hotel can arrange trips to the nearby nature reserve of Esteros del Ibera, home to capybaras, caiman, and myriad other endemic species.
