La Cantera Jungle Lodge

The hotel is set in three hectares of jungle, home to endangered rosewoods and other species and cassia trees dating back 400 years. All the rooms feature balconies opening out onto the trees, and the jungle immersion continues in the hotel grounds, where a wooden ‘runway’ meanders through the treetops.

Each of the rooms’ names and décor reflects the natural jungle environment outside, with extensive use of wood lending them an organic feel. Forest Rooms feature blue wood-panelled walls and ceiling beams, and balconies which open out right into the jungle. Tierra and Jungle Rooms feature even bigger balconies accessed by large French doors.

Breakfast, served in the relaxed dining room, takes the form of a sumptuous spread of hot, cold and fresh options. Expect tropical fruits and juices, freshly baked breads and pastries, cold cuts of meat and cheese and tea and coffee. At El Boyero restaurant, a range of Argentine and international cuisine is served up, accompanied by a range of wines from across Argentina.

The lodge’s lovely outdoor pool is the perfect place to relax and cool off after a day in the great outdoors exploring the falls, and is set in a peaceful location on an outdoor deck surrounded by the jungle. There’s also a pool bar, so you’ll barely have to lift a finger to enjoy a drink.

The undoubted star attraction in the area is the Iguazu Falls, the hotel’s namesake and one of the most magnificent waterfalls in the world. A range of excursions are on offer at the hotel to help you enjoy the falls and the surrounding jungle, ranging from a ‘classic’ tour of regular difficulty to the slightly more strenuous ‘Gran Aventura’ which encompasses boat trips to the falls and a motorboat ride to the Devil’s Throat chasm.
