Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Nowhere is Puesto Viejo’s commitment to excellence more evident than its staff, who combine friendliness with professionalism and experience. Julio and Chino, the estancia’s polo pros, are fantastic teachers who will ensure that your lessons are safe and enjoyable; the ranch’s owners, Jeremy and Lilian, are very friendly and have imbued the place with a warm family atmosphere.

Rooms at Puesto Viejo

Puesto Viejo is home to just ten rooms, each one elegant and traditionally designed but with its own unique character. They are each named after one of the owner’s favourite horses, and are decorated with antique pieces sourced from local markets. They have a classic style, with wooden doors and floors, four-poster beds and ceiling beams.

Food & Drink

Puesto Viejo prides itself on using only fresh, locally sourced ingredients in its restaurant; expect fresh fruit and vegetables, meat reared on local farms, and cheese and wine courtesy of local producers. Breakfast takes the form of an extensive spread of fresh fruit and pastries with eggs and bacon, while lunch and dinner – both hearty, three-course affairs – comprise classic Argentine dishes and traditional asado barbecues.

The ranch’s horse riding facilities include six polo fields and large stables with all the equipment you could need for riding or lessons. After a day in the saddle, the hotel’s beautiful outdoor infinity pool is the perfect place to cool off and put your feet up.

Activities at Puesto Viejo

It goes without saying that horses are top of the agenda here. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a complete beginner, there are lessons on offer to help you improve your skills, and guided horse rides take you out onto the Pampas. Here, you can spot a wide variety of wildlife, including churrinches, chimangos, and various owl species. After a tiring ride, there’s nothing better to come back to than a traditional asado barbecue, with local meat cooked on a cross stake in the classic gaucho style. Polo lessons are also available, and during the season, between September and May, you can watch matches at the club.
