Kick things off with a wine tour (there are over 300 wineries to choose from) and indulge in exquisite Californian cuisine at one of the fine dining restaurants. The infamous French Laundry restaurant is found in Napa, but be sure to ask us to make a reservation months in advance – after all, it is one of the world’s greatest restaurants.

Your hotel, Bardessono, has one of the finest restaurants in Yountville so you don’t need to go far for fresh and seasonal dishes. Laze by the rooftop pool and luxuriate with a spa treatment when you tire of all the wine; or enjoy the great outdoors by hiking, biking and horse riding along the valley’s trails. The Big Sur is possibly the most striking stretch of coastal road in the world and a good reason to look forward to the next stage of your trip! Driving down Highway One, you’ll have the steep cliffs to one side and the vast, sparkling Pacific to the other, waves crashing at the cliff foot and sea lions lazing on deserted bays.

A few hours later you’ll arrive at the adults-only Post Ranch Inn, boasting a privileged position just off this glorious stretch of road, right on the coast.
