This five day, four night hike is a trekking and camping adventure that encompasses Paria Canyon, Buckskin Gulch – the longest slot canyon in the world – and the Boulder Jam. Covering 30 miles in total, you’ll be totally immersed in the red rock landscape which beguiles with its arches, amphitheatres, sandstone canyons and meandering rivers.

Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The hike begins at a remote trailhead, three hours by car from Flagstaff, and continues to the Buckskin Gulch and along the Paria River. The setting is wild and dramatic; quintessential Wild West scenery awash with fiery red rock formations.

Rooms at Wildlife Trekking: Paria Canyon to Lees Ferry

Camp will be set up every night, using Sierra Designs, Kelty or Big Agnes tents; sleeping bags and sleeping pads are also provided.

Food & Drink

Delicious backcountry cuisine is prepared for you, packed with critical carbs, proteins and fats to keep you fuelled up for your trek. You can expect meals made with rice, pasta, lentils, beans and couscous, cooked with spices, herbs and oils. All sorts of diets can be catered for including vegan, kosher and gluten-free.

Facilities

Backpacks and trekking poles are provided, and the guides bring a satellite phone and first-aid kit. The entrance fees and national park permits are included for you.

Activities at Wildlife Trekking: Paria Canyon to Lees Ferry

You’ll be hiking alongside rivers and past Navajo sandstone walls by day, and by night stargazing over a delicious backcountry dinner. You’ll visit historic ranches and archaeological sites, getting up close to Petroglyphs and the Wrather Arch – one of the world’s most remote arches.

Hotel location

The trek begins in the Paria Canyon and continues all the way to Lee’s Ferry and the Navajo Bridge. You’ll be picked up and returned to Flagstaff by the guides.
