Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Ventana Big Sur sits just off Highway One on the Big Sur coastline.

Rooms at Ventana Big Sur

The rooms and suites are nestled within the Redwoods, flowering meadows and ridges of Big Sur, and offer guests privacy and seclusion as well as luxury. Constructed with sun-bleached cedar, they blend with their natural surroundings, and bring the outside in with their cosy interiors of wood and stone, with private decks to relax on between the two. Sleep like a baby in plush king beds adorned with Egyptian cotton, enjoy treats from the artisan mini bar and soak in the hot tub on your deck, overlooking the ocean, or retreat to the wood-burning fireplace on cooler nights.

The lovely Cottage House has a four-poster bed, a dining alcove, a generous indoor hot tub and a spacious deck with an oversized hammock.

Food & Drink

Relax in the Social House, which is the hub of Ventana, where you can enjoy a daily cheese and wine reception, featuring gourmet cheeses and some of the best local and regional wines. The restaurant’s patio looks out over 50 miles of coastline, and you can watch the sun set over the sea with a cocktail before enjoying a gourmet dinner. The menu makes the most of locally-sourced ingredients, which are served with some innovative twists.

Facilities

Start the day with a morning yoga session, and after exploring Big Sur, unwind in the games room, have a swim in one of the pools or luxuriate in a sauna or a warm Japanese bath, gazing at the stars in the vast night skies.

Activities at Ventana Big Sur

Unsurprisingly, hiking is popular here, and will reward you with incredible views on some of California’s most beautiful trails.

Back at Ventana, pick one of its workshops to try out a new skill, including art classes and drumming sessions.
