Hotel Overview

sense of place

The only resort on the shore of Twin Lakes, Tamarack Lodge enjoys a truly stunning location surrounded by the Mammoth Lakes, forests, and the Mammoth Mountain ski area.

rooms at tamarack lodge

Accommodations at Tamarack Lodge are split between one, two and three-bedroom cabins and rooms in the main lodge. The cabins are cosy and luxurious, constructed in the alpine style from timber and stone and with big, comfy beds and sofas and fireplaces. For an extra private and cosy experience, choose a Historic Studio Cabin, designed in the style of a 1920s fishing lodge. Rooms in the main lodge are in a similar style, with wooden walls and ceilings, antique furniture and unique patchwork quilts.

food & drink

Tamarack’s Lakefront Restaurant is a charming traditional dining room, where fresh, seasonal ingredients are used to serve up an ever-changing menu with beautiful views over the forest. You’ll enjoy an unforgettable dining experience with chef Bobby Brown, who will serve up a four-course meal with specifically paired wines. In Mammoth itself, there are plenty of dining options, including rustic Italian fare at Campo, Bavarian food and beers in a fun atmosphere at Yodler, and delicious Asian fusion cuisine at Sushi Rei.

facilities

Tamarack Lodge is home to its very own cross country ski centre, where equipment rentals, lessons and guided tours are all on offer. Hotel guests save 20% on trail passes and Nordic ski and snowshoe rentals. The resort is also home to a forest chapel.

activities at tamarack lodge

There’s no end of outdoor activities on offer at Tamarack Lodge, from boating and fishing to hiking and mountain biking. You can take a scenic gondola ride to the summit of Mammoth, with stunning views at 11,053 feet, or head to the Mammoth Lakes Basin to hike, bike and fish. Just over the mountain in the San Joaquin River Valley lies Devil’s Postpile, a bizarre natural formation of basalt columns. The majesty of Yosemite National Park lies a short distance to the north.
