The Ritz-Carlton Bacara's rooms and suites are housed in individual villas, each with their own private patio or balcony, overlooking the ocean, the hotel’s gardens and the Santa Ynez mountains. The decor is classic, with Spanish colonial influences, and the interiors feature natural wood furnishings and ocean-blue and neutral tones. The stylish bathrooms have deep-soaking tubs and marble showers. Penthouses and Residences offer additional space and luxury, including living areas, kitchenettes and cosy fireplaces.

There are no less than five restaurants at the Ritz-Carlton, so you're spoilt for choice. The signature Angel Oak steakhouse restaurant has a 12,000-bottle wine collection, as well as exquisite food which makes the most of local, fresh ingredients, which you can enjoy on the terrace while soaking up the ocean vistas. Meanwhile, the elegant Bacara Bar serves tempting cocktails.

There are three heated swimming pools - perfect for if the sea gets a little chilly - one of which is adults-only as part of the resort’s large and impressive spa, which offers a wide range of treatments and has a redwood sauna, a eucalyptus steam room and Jacuzzi, as well as a rooftop terrace. The poolside cabanas are ideal for relaxing.

Get active at one of Santa Barbara’s nearby golf courses or serve and volley on the resort’s tennis courts. The nearby sea sets the scene for surfing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and even whale watching, or enjoy a horse ride along the beach.
