Hotel Overview

Sense of place

With scenic views of the San Jacinto mountains and the desert, but with easy access to the centre of Palm Springs, L’Horizon is a world of its own set amid three landscaped acres. Service is friendly and attentive, adhering to the same standards which once drew presidents and celebrities to the hotel.

Rooms at L’Horizon

Accommodation at L’Horizon takes the form of a collection of luxurious residences spread through the landscaped grounds. The Residence was built as the holiday home of fifties Hollywood producer Jack Wrather and has been renovated to the height of luxury while retaining its retro chic. The same can be said of the numerous bungalows, which feature wooden ceilings and floors and exposed brick and glass walls so you can gaze on the palm trees, mountains and desert which populate the scenery outside. The Fireplace Junior Suite Bungalow was once the personal residence of Marilyn Monroe at the hotel, and features the same private outdoor shower which she was fond of using during her stays.

Food & drink

L’Horizon’s dramatic, stylised atmosphere extends to SO.PA, its al fresco restaurant, where gourmet cuisine is served up courtesy of Michelin starred Executive Chef Chris Anderson. Offerings are based on fresh seasonal ingredients and include Coachella Valley quail, Ossetra and Beluga sturgeon caviar and locally sourced game. The poolside bar, cabanas and patio are the places to go to enjoy a craft cocktail, glass or wine or a light bite while looking out over the desert.

Facilities

L’Horizon is home to a superb spa, where massages, facials, body treatments and aromatherapy are on offer in four treatment rooms and an outdoor relaxation area overlooking the mountains. There’s also a juice bar, and personal fitness trainers are available 24 hours a day. Complimentary yoga instruction is also on offer.

Activities at L’Horizon

The area around L’Horizon is home to some of Palm Springs’ finest golf courses, and desert hiking and walking trails are plentiful; the hotel staff will be happy to help you plan routes and arrange excursions. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, the largest of its kind in the world, travels two-and-a-half miles over the Chino Canyon and offers stunning views of the Mount San Jacinto State Park. The mountain itself is a beautiful area for walking and hiking.
