The red-tiled turrets and rooftops and white-washed walls of The Del sit right on the beach in the upmarket Coronado Island, in the eternally-sunny San Diego.

Hotel Overview

Sense of place

The hotel is located on Coronado Island, located at the end of a peninsula in a wealthy area of San Diego in southern California.

Rooms at Hotel del Coronado

There are three separate areas in Hotel del Coronado – the historic Victorian Building, the newer Ocean Towers and California Cabanas, and the oceanfront Beach Village. The decor of all the accommodation is modern and simply styled in clean, neutral colours. The Victorian Building combines modern amenities with the heritage of the building and the Ocean Towers and California Cabanas (which are by the pool) are in the resort section of the hotel. The Beach Village offers cottages and villas right on the beach.

Food & Drink

At 1500 OCEAN you’ll find the fine-dining option of The Del, which has epic views across the water. Sheerwater serves Californian cuisine, steak and fresh-from-the-Pacific seafood, as well as a children’s menu. Light bites are served at the Babcock & Story Bar and ENO Wine Room delivers artisan pizza, cheese and chocolate delicacies. A famously epic Sunday Brunch can also be enjoyed in the Victorian-style Crown Room, with its domed wood-beamed ceiling and crown chandeliers.

Facilities

There are two pools at The Del, one for adults which is only open during the summer months, and poolside cabanas are available for renting. A spa, gym and salon are also available.

Activities at Hotel del Coronado

Waterbabies will love the variety of ocean-based activities on offer at The Del, such as sailing, surfing and paddle-boarding. You can rent bikes or head to one of the nearby golf courses to practise your swing; enjoy classic s’mores on the beach around one of the hotel’s firepits; or even hire one of the luxury cars to take out for a drive around the San Diego and OC coast. Kidtopia offers camps for children and for older teens, Vibz organises plenty of activities and sports throughout the day.
