Geejam is a hip hideaway on a hillside in lush tropical landscapes in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Blissfully secluded and oozing luxury, this is the place to get away from it all in style – and many celebrities and musicians have done just that. Guests have included Beyonce and Jay Z, as well as Banksy, who created a mural especially for the hotel.
Perfect forStylish couples looking for something a little bit different.
In the knowGeejam actually started life as a recording studio, which is still there, with musicians regularly recording here. Guests can visit it or even book their own recording session – very fitting for the homeland of Bob Marley.

Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Geejam is just outside Port Antonio on the north-east coast of Jamaica, and you can go from mountains to rainforest to beach here. As well as having the Blue Mountains on the doorstep, it has its own private section of Mack Beach, while the stunning Frenchman’s Cove Beach, regularly voted one of the best beaches in the world, is just a five-minute drive away. Port Antonio is a 15-minute drive.

Rooms at Geejam

There are bright splashes of colour and plenty of character throughout the hotel, and the accommodation is no exception. With just a small number of rooms, you can enjoy a sense of exclusivity here. The attractive wooden cabins, named after types of music from Ska to Mento, are nestled in the trees, with views over the rainforest and the sea from secluded verandas (some of which also have hot tubs). They are linked by paths which lead not just to the cabins but to platforms where you can take in the sunshine, the bar, and down to the beach.

Inside, you’ll find plush beds, chic white furniture which contrasts with the dark woods, colourful art, state-of-the-art music systems (unsurprisingly) and sleek bathrooms with Philippe Starck fittings. Guests are given a phone preloaded with numbers for hotel services.

There’s an impressive suite below the recording studio, or treat yourself to the ultimate luxury at the three-bedroom villa, which has its own private pool.

Food & Drink

The trendy and laid-back bar and restaurant, Bushbar, built on a platform around ancient fig trees, is always buzzing. Your meals and drinks will be accompanied by live music from local bands and DJs (as well as birdsong), and sensational views over the mountains and the coastline.

The menu showcases traditional Jamaican cuisine including fresh fish, jerk chicken and curries, washed down with fruit cocktails. For breakfast, savour homemade breads, eggs, pastries and fresh fruit from the gardens, as well as the national dish of ackee and saltfish.

Relax in the spa or have a workout in the gym. There’s also a yoga deck - a great way to start the day. If there are no guests in the villa, you can have a swim in its pool.

Activities at Geejam

This area is excellent for hiking and birdwatching. You should also go kayaking on the stunning Blue Lagoon, go rafting on the Rio Grande or visit Boston Bay – the home of Jamaican jerk chicken.
