Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Farewell Harbour Lodge is nestled within 10 acres of land on Berry Island, within the beautiful expanse of the Great Bear Rainforest and the rugged shores of the Broughton Archipelago. Berry Island sits along the inside passage route to Alaska, and the vast Canadian wilderness and its diverse wildlife will be right at your fingertips.

Rooms at Farewell Harbour Lodge

The great draw of Farewell Harbour Lodge is the surrounding landscapes, so the rooms, connected by walkways through the forest, are left rustic and chic to blend smoothly into the wilderness. They feature natural materials such as cedar, nautical accents, local artworks and fresh flowers, alongside cosy wood-burning stoves.

Food & Drink

Farewell Harbour Lodge prides itself on offering meals designed with fresh local ingredients harvested right off the land. Dive into steaming crab claws or buttery salmon (caught by staff!). You can enjoy your hearty and wholesome meal by a crackling fire, and have a drink or two at the bar, while the two wraparound porches ensure that dinner always comes with a natural show - the beautiful orange-hued sunsets.

You can wake up to a yoga session on deck, while at the end of the day, an outdoor ocean-side hot tub allows premium relaxation after a day’s adventures, glass of bubbly in hand, while basking in the panoramic West Coast views and the moonlight glow.

Activities at Farewell Harbour Lodge

Explore the vast rainforest and its diverse wildlife, from bears and wolves to orcas and whales, on tailor-made wilderness expeditions. Come nose-to-nose with grizzly and black bears as they guzzle up salmon, catch your own dinner on a fishing expedition, cut across the mysterious dark waters of the rainforest’s fjords in a kayak or paddleboard, or go sea kayaking in and out of the hidden inlets. Embark on a private boat tour to see orcas swoop through the water and humpback whales blow giant bubble rings to catch their prey.

Get the adrenaline pumping with a trail-blazing mountain bike adventure through the rainforest, or learn about the Kwakwaka’wakw First Nations people and the local indigenous culture (which the lodge was inspired by) at the U’mista Cultural Centre nearby.
