Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge has a stunning setting near Tofino on Vancouver Island.

Rooms at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge

The lodge has 25 luxurious tents, with king and queen-sized beds and luxury private bathrooms with underfloor heating and indoor/outdoor showers with double showerheads - as well as wood stoves, earthenware water coolers, antique furniture, classic books and candles. The original deluxe outpost tents nestle in the rainforest by the waterfront or sit in the trees on the hillside, and have private showers and eco-friendly toilets just outside.

In accordance with the lodge's philosophy, there are no TVs or phones (there are radios and emergency phones, if needed). This is a chance to enjoy a special experience away from 21st-century distractions.

Food & drink

This exceptional lodge makes the most of the natural abundance of its coastal setting, with an emphasis on locally-sourced and sustainable food (signature dishes include grilled Clayoquot Sound oyster chowder with cumin thyme broth). You can also dine in unique spots in spectacular settings, such as by the waterfront or on a secluded mountaintop.

Facilities

Wake up to a morning yoga or meditation session on the waterfront deck, and after your day’s adventures, revive yourself in the attractive cedar saunas and hot tubs while taking in the panoramic vistas - these are the best views in the house! For a real refresher, there's also a cold plunge tub, filled with pure spring water. Alternatively, wind down with a relaxing massage: the innovative treatments on offer range from traditional Thai massages to hot stone therapy.

The lounge tents offer activities such as billiards and watercolour painting, and a range of games.

Activities at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge

The inexhaustive range of wilderness adventures can be tailored to your needs each day by the activity directors. Go horse riding, learn to surf on a beautiful and secluded beach or go hiking with a First Nations guide. Other options include climbing, mountain biking and visiting the canopy viewing platform for a bird’s eye view over the forest. This is also a great place for wildlife spotting, from bears to whales.
