Lazy Bear Lodge is a handcrafted log cabin nestled in the depths of northern Manitoba’s boreal landscape. Located just 500 miles below the Arctic Circle, you’ll spend your days tracking polar bears, kayaking with beluga whales, and watching the Northern Lights illuminate the forest.

In the knowOwner and founder Wally Daudrich – a former polar bear guide - used over 1000 recycled logs to build the lodge, having come up with the idea after two forest fires burnt across the Churchill wilderness.

The lodge’s 33 rooms flaunt cosy log cabin interiors. Double beds, large bathrooms and large TVs with an extensive movie database can be found in each room, while sightings of polar bears outside the windows is a common occurrence!

Food and facilities

The Lazy Bear Café offers fireside dining and northern Canada cuisine, with indigenous foods such as Caribou Pepper Steak, Dill Crusted Arctic Char, and homemade soups frequenting the menu. The lodge is also home to Churchill’s only stone fireplace, perfect for settling down with a freshly baked cookie or brownie after a day in the Arctic wilderness.

Activities at Lazy Bear Lodge

Various tours are on offer according to the season; spend your days exploring the lush boreal forest and its wildlife, kayaking along the rocky Hudson Bay coastline teaming with Beluga Whales, or walking along flower covered landscapes to go bird watching and track the great Polar Bear.
