Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Waves Hotel & Spa by Elegant Hotels sits on the western coast of Barbados, on a stretch of golden beach in St James, a trendy area known for its upmarket resorts.

Rooms at Waves Hotel & Spa by Elegant Hotels

The rooms have a very fresh, contemporary decor, with the wooden floorboards and furniture and the driftwood and coral artworks decorating the walls giving them a natural feel inspired by their beach setting. Standard Rooms overlook the island’s interior, while Oceanview Rooms have gorgeous views over the Caribbean from private balconies or patios. Most luxurious of all are the Spa Suites, which overlook the pool.

The Oceanside building is ideal for families, while the spa building is adults-only, and some accommodation options include spa treatments.

Food & Drink

Mediterranean cuisine is the order of the day at Seascape, with both buffet and a la carte options including citrus-marinated kingfish, lamb kebabs and stuffed cannelloni, to name just a few. For something a little different, Shiso offers delicious Asian fusion food, from sashimi and sushi fresh from the ocean to hearty noodle bowls. Sandwiches, light bites, coffee and tea are available throughout the day at the relaxed café, Kyma.

Facilities

This the first all-inclusive health and wellness hotel in Barbados. The hotel’s state-of-the-art spa includes a steam room and sauna where you can decompress, as well as a range of massages, body wraps and facial treatments. For the ultimate in relaxation, opt for the two-hour ‘bespoke ritual’, which involves body, head and foot massages using rosemary and grapefruit oils. There's a meditation garden, and yoga classes are on offer at the yoga pavilion.

There's also an excellent fitness centre, and personal trainers are on hand to help you achieve your fitness goals.

Activities at Waves Hotel & Spa by Elegant Hotels

Relax on the beach and take advantage of the excellent beach service, and if you can drag yourself away, the calm waters around the resort are perfect for exploring Barbados' beautiful coastline. Jump in a kayak or try stand-up paddle-boarding for a more serene way of getting around, or go water-skiing or get pulled behind a speedboat in a rubber tube if you're after a more hair-raising ride. Hobie Catamaran sailing is also on offer.

Enjoy a spot of cricket on the beach, or immerse yourself in local culture by visiting a local craft market or learning the secrets of Bajan cuisine with a cookery class courtesy of Waves' chef Oli. If you are travelling with the family, the hotel has an excellent kids club to keep them entertained.
