Perched on a rocky ledge on Oman’s vast Saiq Plateau, 2,000 metres above sea level, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar is one of the highest luxury resorts in the world, and it has the views to match. Jabal Akhdar is the highest peak in Oman, and its name – Green Mountain – refers to its comparatively lush slopes, which are home to peach, grape and pomegranate groves.

Stunning views of the canyon and mountains can be enjoyed from the spacious and luxurious rooms, which feature a contemporary Arabian style with hanging lanterns and latticed wooden headboards, alongside large French windows opening onto furnished balconies where you can take in the view. Luxury bathrooms feature rainshowers and separate tubs, while other amenities include interactive LED TVs, USB charging stations and Nespresso coffee machines.

Food & drink

All tastes are catered for here, with fantastic food and drink served across several restaurants and lounges. Savour typical Arabian dishes in a central fort tower at Al Qalaa, where grilled seafood harvested from the Gulf of Oman is served alongside fresh seasonal vegetables.

Al Maisan has a similarly traditional Arabian decor but a more global menu, while Bella Vista serves Italian and Mediterranean dishes in a modern, informal environment. Al Baha is a relaxed outdoor café serving sandwiches and light meals, while the elegant Al Burj lounge is the perfect place to go for a nightcap.


Take a dip in the stunning infinity pool with its panoramic canyon vistas - this really is a pool with a view! In keeping with the resort’s peaceful location, the spa is a beautifully relaxing spot, decked out in a traditional Arabian style and scented with local frankincense and Damask roses. The range of treatments include an extensive menu of massage therapies, while the aromatherapy harnesses the power of Oman’s famous fragrances. There's also a salt-infused steam room.

The stunning landscapes of the area and the hotel's privileged location on the curved rim of a dramatic canyon, dictate the programme of activities here.
