Hotel Overview

In the heart of the Al Hajar mountains in Oman, an hour from Nizwa and a two-and-half hour drive from Muscat airport.

Rooms at Alila Jabal Akhdar

Eco friendly and inspired by the natural environment and traditional Omani architecture, the cool, minimalist interiors of earthy local stone are juxtaposed with sleek contemporary design and warm rustic colours. The hotel’s luxurious suites are spaced out around the clifftop to ensure both privacy and panoramic views over the mountains and gorges- make the most of them from your private balcony or terrace.

Food and facilities

The Juniper restaurant is named after the trees that grow in the countryside of Oman, which also inspire the artwork around the hotel. Feast on gourmet Arabic and international cuisine using fresh, seasonal ingredients, with worldly influences from the Middle East to the Mediterranean. As the sun sets over the mountains, take your time over light bites and refreshing drinks in the Rose lounge- or why not enjoy a private starlit dinner at the edge of the mountains- stargazing, as well as sunset viewing, is a must here.

Activities at Alila Jabal Akhdar

The heated outdoor infinity pool, with its amazing views of the gorge, begs to be swum in, while there’s also an inviting indoor plunge pool. The soothing spa fuses traditional healing techniques with modern knowledge in treatments from massage to meditation. The steam room is fragranced with frankincense and juniper berry, while you can also relax in the Jacuzzi. The Saiq Plateau around the resort enjoys a Mediterranean climate, which makes it perfect for growing walnuts, pomegranates and Oman’s famous damask roses, which tumble down the mountainsides in swathes of pink. Further afield, the historic cities of Nizwa, Bahla and Ebri are well worth a visit.
