Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The hotel has been lovingly restored to its former palatial glory, while meeting modern standards of comfort and luxury. Period features abound, such as intricate mosaic work, rich wood panelling and Moorish arches.

Rooms at Riad Laaroussa

Riad Laaroussa’s rooms and suites are supremely luxurious while remaining steeped in the historic character of the property. Doors are carved from thick wood, and the floors are of tiled stone or beautiful mosaics. Each of the rooms is different and has its own character; many have beautiful stained glass windows or wooden ceiling beams, while the Grey Suite has its own redbrick fireplace.

Food & Drink

The hotel’s restaurant is all about showcasing the very best of Morocco’s rich culinary traditions, with a range of hearty, home-style dishes offered based on fresh seasonal ingredients. Food is accompanied by a wide range of Moroccan wine, mainly from the region of Meknes, which is achieving increasing recognition worldwide. Cookery classes are on offer with the hotel chef.

Facilities

The hotel’s spa is a beautiful space, hewn from Carrara marble, where a range of therapies are on offer from massages to body wraps. The spa includes a traditional hammam area. Outside, in the hotel’s Mediterranean garden, there’s a pleasant pool, which is heated in the colder months.

Activities at Riad Laaroussa

The hotel’s prime location, right inside Fes’s UNESCO-listed Medina, makes it perfect for exploring the evocative medieval heart of the city. The Medina is the largest urban area in the world which is free of cars, and it’s suitably atmospheric, with traders, musicians and magicians on every corner and no end of mysterious alleyways to explore. The hotel can arrange tours of the Medina with reputable guides, as well as day trips to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, the wine region of Meknes, and the beautiful Middle Atlas Mountains.
