Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The riad’s renovation has been a labour of love for owner Meriam, and the place is imbued with a warm, family atmosphere. The service is superb, and staff will very happily go out of their way to ensure you make the most of your time in Chefchaouen.

Rooms at Riad Cherifa

Riad Cherifa’s rooms and suites are beautifully and traditionally designed, with each one decorated with locally produced arts and crafts; features include mosaics, woodcarvings, ornamental painted ceilings and doors, and ornate, wrought iron windows. The rooms are lit by crystal chandeliers, and feature one-of-a-kind, antique furniture; the walls are adorned with historical photographs which tell the story of Chefchaouen’s history.

Food & Drink

Breakfast at Riad Cherifa is perfect for giving you the energy you need for a day exploring the medina in Chefchaouen, with a hearty spread of fresh fruit, pastries and egg breakfast, as well as Moroccan breakfast dishes like semolina pancakes and semi-leavened bread. The riad’s central location means there is no shortage of fantastic restaurants to choose from for lunch and dinner.

Facilities

The riad is home to a traditional hammam, the Moroccan answer to a Turkish bath, and the perfect place to relax after a day’s exploring Chefchaouen. Treatments are traditional and make use of organic products such as olive and argan oil.

Activities at Riad Cherifa

Riad Cherifa is located right in the heart of things in Chefchaouen’s old medina, famous for its blue-washed buildings and Moroccan-Andalucian architecture. The town is very atmospheric, and has a scenic location in the shadows of the Rif Mountains; excursions for hikes into the hills are a popular activity. The medina itself makes for an evocative stroll without being as overwhelming as its equivalent in Marrakech; the Kasbah contains an ethnographic museum, an art gallery, and a beautiful garden.
