Adventure Honeymoon In Morocco

Delicious food, warm weather and a wonderful overload of the senses await you in Marrakech, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the world. You’ll start your adventure honeymoon by flying into the former imperial city and staying in the heart of Marrakech’s historic quarter for two nights. Take your time when wandering the iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the maze-like streets and the overflowing markets. You’ll definitely see the typical sights of snake charmers and spice stalls but make sure to also catch glimpses of lesser-known Marrakech - whether that’s dodging the still-wet and vibrantly coloured yarns of the Dyers' Souk or finding reprieve from the sun in the Douiria Museum, which houses stunning examples of 16^th century Saadian architecture. When you’ve had your fill of sightseeing, return to the Dar Mo’da for a dip in the rooftop plunge pool before toasting your honeymoon in the candle-lit and rose-scented courtyard.

Leaving Marrakech, you’ll travel by 4WD through the Atlas Mountains via spectacular Ait Ben Haddou to arrive in the oasis of Skoura, a slice of Eden filled with romantically crumbling kasbahs, palm groves and rose gardens backed by the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas. Stay two nights at the serene L’Ma Lodge, where we can arrange for you to strike out on horseback, by foot or on a bicycle to explore the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs and the dramatic Todra Gorge.

Continuing deeper into the desert, a morning’s drive will take you to Zagora where the lovely Azalai Desert Lodge makes a perfect overnight stop amongthe date palms before the desert proper begins. We’d recommend taking it slow, and enjoying the spa, hammam and delightful gardens. When the sun is at its hottest, have a cooling dip in the pool or recline with a book on your chaise-longue.

Your next two days are a striking contrast, as with mounting excitement you catch your first glimpse of the real Sahara. Arriving at your stylishly romantic bivouac, Azalai Desert Camp, you’ll find yourself in utter seclusion surrounded by dunes at the heart of the Erg Chigaga sand sea. Azalai Desert Camp consists of just six luxuriously appointed canvas tents, and makes an intimate and atmospheric base for adventures in the Sahara. By day you can explore by camel or 4x4 before returning to a candle-lit Berber feast by the campfire and a chance to lose yourself in the Milky Way among some of the clearest night skies anywhere.

Shaking off the sand, you’ll then fly to Casablanca before being driven down the coast to Oualidia, a sleepy beachfront village on Morocco's Atlantic coast that is full of low-key charm and character. Staying at the pretty Azalai Beach Cottage, which offers direct access to the beach, you can be as active or as relaxed as you choose. If you still crave adventure, then Oualidia is one of the best spots on the Moroccan coast to go surfing or kite-boarding. Alternatively, while away a few hours in a seaside armchair listening to the waves, take a long beach stroll and feast on fine local lagoon oysters in one of Oualidia’s oceanfront restaurants.
