Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The Agafay Desert is just 25 miles from Marrakech, but it feels like its own little world, with miles of mountains and stone scrubland as far as the eye can see. The camp itself sits on something of an oasis, which allows for an on-site garden, where food is grown for meals, and a farm home to goats, donkeys and chickens.

Rooms at Terre des Etoiles

Terre des Etoiles’ ten tents are spacious and luxurious, with king-size beds and proper, tadelakt-walled bathrooms. The tents have stone-tiled floors, adorned with Moroccan rugs and textiles, and plush seating areas; there are even robust.

Food & Drink

The camp’s location on a desert oasis makes for an unusually rich abundance of fruit and vegetables, which are grown onsite and go into the hearty Moroccan dishes that are served in the cosy dining tent. Expect to enjoy Moroccan classics such as a rich tagine, which is normally bubbling away for hours on end on a traditional kanoun.

Facilities

As you might expect, facilities are a little thin on the ground here compared to a hotel – there’s no spa treatments available, for example. However, the tents themselves are remarkably comfortable, with hot running water, showers, toilets, and everything else you could need for a comfortable stay.

Activities at Terre des Etoiles

The unspoilt wilderness surrounding the camp lies waiting to be explored, whether on foot, by mountain bike, or on the back of a dromedary camel or a horse. For another perspective, a hot air balloon flight is an unforgettable way to experience the desert, while back at the camp a small library can be found in the comfortable Berber tent. In keeping with the communal atmosphere at the camp, guests are invited to help out in the garden with sowing or harvesting – but are by no means obliged to lift a finger!
