Toubkal National Park is dominated by the rugged beauty of the Atlas Mountains, with Toubkal itself the highest peak in North Africa. The Kasbah overlooks the village of Imlil, where a rich Berber culture abides, and is perfectly situated for hiking through the Imlil Valley.

Rooms at Kasbah du Toubkal are rustic yet luxurious, with exposed beams and woodwork in the ceiling and on the walls and Moroccan lanterns adding to the atmosphere. Colour schemes are simple, with the pale wood of the window frames, floors and furnishings offset by the white linen of the bed sheets and curtains and brightly coloured, ornate rugs.

Food & Drink

In keeping with the rest of the hotel, dining at Kasbah du Toubkal is a sumptuous, traditional affair. At breakfast, freshly squeezed fruit juice, home-baked bread and homemade yoghurt accompany Berber pancakes; lunch and dinner follow an ever-changing set menu. Examples of dishes include rabbit tagine, veal shank, and couscous served with chicken and figs; the dining room evokes a traditional Berber home, with low tables, cushions and the light of candles.

The hotel has a traditional hammam, with wood-fired steam and warmed mountain water – perfect for soothing those tired muscles after a The Kasbah’s roof terrace is a beautiful spot to lounge on Moroccan carpets and cushions and take in the panoramic views of the mighty peak of Toubkal, the national park beyond, and the Atlas Mountains.

Hiking trails criss-cross the Imlil Valley, through traditional villages and past tumbling waterfalls. Adventurous guests can embark on a guided trek to the hotel’s trekking lodge, built in the same traditional style as the Kasbah, with a mule carrying your packs and an expert guide leading the way and teaching you about the region’s rich wildlife and culture.
