From the winding gorge that is the Siq, to the majestic sandstone Treasury, everything about this historic city is utterly awe-inspiring.

Continuing a Jordanian holiday will see you next venture into the Wadi Rum wilderness, a vast wind-sculpted landscape so visually stunning it deserves a few days’ exploration from a Bedouin desert camp. Then, to dust off (literally) the holiday there is the world-famous Dead Sea, which is (who knew) actually a lake. The incredibly salty waters here mean you can float on the lake’s still surface while taking in the views from the world’s most low-lying spot.

Finally, if a taste of water has left you longing for more, those with more time might also venture to Aqaba in the far south of Jordan. This relaxed coastal town is home to beautiful beaches and luxury hotels, and offers access to the famously colourful coral reefs of the Red Sea.
