Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Encased by a forest of palm trees and tropical vegetation, and just a brief drive away from the ancient Mayan sites of Tulum and Coba, guests are welcomed from the powder-white sand of Akumal beach and the crystal-clear ocean water to find a collection of elegant, luxurious rooms and suites.

Rooms at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya

The rooms and suites feature Mayan gold accents, vivid pink-red La Huasteca-style embroidered textiles and rustic wicker furnishings. Combined with sleek warm wooden furniture and cool stone floors, they create a haven of peaceful tranquillity which speaks to the historic culture and beautiful natural surroundings.

Wake up in comfortable, plush beds to the sound of tropical birdsong or the waves crashing on the shore as you step out onto your balcony to bask overlooking either the garden or glimmering Caribbean Sea. Unwind in style surrounded by gorgeous exotic flower arrangements in bathrooms which come complete with hot tubs or opt for one of the Swim Out suites for direct access to the pool.

Food & Drink

Dine on gourmet dishes at one of the nine restaurants (no reservations required), stopping over at Bordeaux for dramatic, Moulin Rouge-style interiors and French classics. Or, at Himitsu, enjoy delectable sushi and Teppanyaki under atmospheric lanterns. Start the day at Market Café with a lavish breakfast buffet and return as the sun goes down for authentic Mexican menus at El Patio or comforting Italian cuisine at Portifino.

Oceana is the place to go for romantic open-air dinners of fresh seafood, while the outdoor firepit at Rendezvous is an ideal spot for a cocktail under the stars. Throughout the day, the poolside bars and café will keep you topped up with refreshments and snacks, while private oceanfront dining is available upon request if you feel like a candlelit dinner beside gently lapping waves.

When you’re not dancing the night away at Desires Bar Lounge or watching a movie at the resort’s theatre, make your way down to one of three pools for a refreshing dip overlooking the sea, pamper yourself with a massage or beauty treatment at the Secrets Spa by Pevonia, or make your way to the well-equipped gym for a satisfying workout. Alternatively, start the day with some calming beach yoga before hitting the tennis court for a friendly game (additional fees apply).

Activities at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya

Kayak tours, scuba diving and snorkelling with the green sea turtles just offshore are just some of the idyllic ways to spend an afternoon here, while a visit to the archaeological ruins at Tulum, the freshwater cenotes nearby and the underground Aktun Chen cave all come highly recommended. Please note that motorized water sports attract an additional fee.
