Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa is nestled in 200 acres of protected jungle on a pristine beach, just 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen and 30 minutes from Cancun International Airport.

Rooms at Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa

There are 63 beautiful rooms and suites tucked amongst lush gardens, many with spectacular sea views. They glow with mahogany and bamboo-filtered light while hammocks beckon on the open-air terraces. Handmade furniture, original artworks, hand-painted tiles and soft wool rugs add traditional Mexican touches. The fabulous Sian Nah suites come with their own private plunge pools, as well as fitness equipment and a spa area to get you in tiptop condition within the privacy of your room.

Food and Drink

Food is fresh and tasty with plenty of authentic regional Mexican specialities on offer at El Restaurante (start your day with an aromatic cup of hot chocolate and some hand-made tortilla) as well as delicious Mediterranean fare served with a Mexican twist at El Sol Tapas & Restaurant, and fresh ceviche on the beach at Freddy's - or enjoy a barbecue on the sand. Linger over a delicious sunset dinner, accompanied by live music. These dishes showcase Yucatan produce, herbs and spices, and you can find out more about the local cuisine - and what to wash it down with - with a cooking class and wine and tequila tastings.

Facilities

Guests can take advantage of one of the many spa treatments offered or even take part in a yoga class to relax and rejuvenate.

Activities at Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa

The Kinan spa, where you can unwind with treatments based on ancient Maya healing rituals, is a haven of tranquillity. There's also a 24-hour fitness centre and a rooftop yoga pavilion - and the Temazcal (think Mayan sauna) gets rid of any bad karma. The three swimming pools and two tennis courts offer plenty to do if you can drag yourself off the enormous beach beds - or there's a wide range of water sports, including spectacular diving in underwater caves, sailing and snorkelling out on the reef just a 10-minute boat ride away. Or for something less energetic, simply enjoy a stroll through the jungle pathways around the resort, as parrots and butterflies fly overhead.
