Beginning in the American state of California, you’ll spend two nights in glitzy West Hollywood before crossing the border into Mexico and the world’s second-longest peninsula. At Loreto, you’ll snorkel, dive and fish among mahi-mahi, marlin and snapper and explore uninhabited islands, before swimming with whale sharks and hiking through the Sierra de la Laguna in La Paz. You’ll then hit some of the finest surf in Baja at Todos Santos before finishing up at the tip of the peninsula in Los Cabos, where you can spend your days in the Pacific Ocean and your nights in the clubs and bars of Cabo San Lucas.

2 nightsLOS ANGELES

Your Baja adventure begins north of the border, in the City of Angels: Los Angeles. The home of Hollywood, LA is one of the world’s most iconic cities, and there’s no end of things to do here as you ease yourself into your trip. You will spend two nights living like an A-lister in West Hollywood. This area is famous for its nightlife, with iconic venues such as the Whisky a Go Go and the Comedy Store great places to indulge in some celeb spotting.

2 nightsLORETO

The Mexican stretch of your journey begins in earnest now, as you cross the border to the colonial city of Loreto. You’ll spend two nights at the beautiful Posada de las Flores, a boutique hotel housed in a restored colonial hacienda. Just a stone’s throw from the beach, the hotel is perfect for exploring this beautiful stretch of coastline, with kayaking, snorkelling and diving all on offer; anglers will relish the opportunity to fish for mahi-mahi, marlin and snapper. Boat trips are also available to the nearby uninhabited islands of Monserrate, Danazate and Carmen, among others.

3 nightsLA PAZ

A four-hour car journey takes you to your next stop, the artistic city of La Paz. You’ll spend three nights at Costa Baja, a luxurious resort overlooking the Sea of Cortez; exploration of the nearby coastline is high on the agenda during your stay here. A private day trip to the island of Espiritu Santo will see you heading into the Bay of La Paz to a sea lion colony, exploring deserted beaches and mangrove swamps, and kayaking off beautiful shorelines. Aspiring naturalists can swim with whale sharks on a ‘research day’, where you’ll learn about the creatures and efforts to protect them. If you’re more of a landlubber, opt for a day trip to the Sierra de la Laguna, a nature reserve home to thick forest perfect for hiking.

3 nightsTODOS SANTOS

A short hour’s drive sees you crossing the peninsula to your next stop, Todos Santos, where you’ll spend three nights at the arty design hotel, Guaycura. Todos Santos is home to some of the finest surfing in Baja California, whatever your ability level; it’s also a great place to learn, and expertly guided lessons are on offer. A great way to get to know the coastline up close is with a guided cliff-top walk, beginning in the fishing village of Punta Lobos. Your guide will take you to a sea lion colony and to the ruined fishing village of Los Algodones, teaching you all the while about the area’s rich flora and fauna. For a real off-the-beaten track adventure, a guided excursion will lead you to the deserts and canyons inland, before cooling off at three beautiful hidden waterfalls.

3 nightsCABO SAN LUCAS

Your journey ends at the tip of the Baja California peninsula in Los Cabos, with three nights at the beautiful boutique hotel, The Cape. Designed by prominent architect Javier Sanchez, this place radiates vintage glamour with its mid-twentieth-century design, and every room overlooks the Pacific Ocean. A range of water-based activities are on offer here, including jet skiing, parasailing, diving and kite surfing; for ultimate luxury, head out on a day’s private yacht tour. Alternatively, you can spend your last few nights exploring the buzzing nightlife of Cabo San Lucas, or simply relaxing around the pool or in the spa before your journey home.
