When to go to Guatemala
Known as “The land of eternal spring,” Guatemala is warm and sunny year round but has a distinct dry and green season to bear in mind.
Dry season takes place from October to May, and within this period December and January are particularly good as everything is still green from the rains and the sky is clear. The rainy season for the rest of the year doesn’t affect all areas and often just means a late afternoon shower, so it’s still possible to travel at this time.
You may also be lucky enough for your trip to coincide with Guatemala’s colourful religious festivals, of which there are many. Easter holy week is a particularly big festival and provides a fascinating glimpse at the country’s culture.
