Rooms at Copal Tree Lodge

Wooden suites on stilts are carefully separated from each other amongst the lush foliage of the rainforest. They have private, screened-off terraces which are the perfect place to spot the animals and birds that live in the tree canopy. Inside, rooms are luxurious and elegant, with brightly coloured bedspreads, earthy tiled floors and handmade wooden furniture.

Food and Facilities

The lodge goes to great efforts to source seasonal, locally grown produce and to reflect the culinary traditions of Central America and the Caribbean. The hotel’s organic farm produces a large proportion of the fresh vegetables that are served to guests. Meals are most often eaten outside; there's also the opportunity to enjoy riverside picnics and dinners around the ceremonial fire pit.

Activities at Copal Tree Lodge

As you’d imagine, activities here revolve around discovering the nature on the lodge’s doorstep. The area is a birdwatchers’ paradise and photographers too will think they’ve died and gone to heaven. Tours into the Toledo rainforest take place on foot, mountain bike or open topped vehicle, while boats take guests down the river and into the diver’s paradise of the Caribbean coast. Archaeologically interesting Mayan ruins provide a great insight into the history of this sophisticated pre-colonial civilization.

Back at the lodge, take advantage of the wonderful spa, tucked behind a lovely pool.
