With its wildlife-teeming rainforests, towering waterfalls, and partially-excavated Mayan sites, inland Belize calls out to active types and nature lovers. Horse riding, mountain biking, tubing and hiking are just some of the activities on offer, and for a real adrenaline rush go caving in the Mayan burial site of Actun Tunichil Muknal.

Sleepy Placencia in Southern Belize is the place to come when all you want to do is loll in a hammock and chill out with a cold beer. But it’s not just beautiful beaches; head off to see the wildlife along the Monkey River, dive with gentle-giant whale sharks, or swim with curious manatees.
