Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The gorgeous, sprawling Victoria House Resort & Spa sits on Ambergris Caye, a 25-mile long island spanning Belize’s famous barrier reef, on a postcard-perfect Caribbean beach of pristine white sand and crystal-clear waters. The little town of San Pedro is just ten minutes away by bicycle and we really like the fact that you can hire bikes from the hotel for a relaxing ride downtown for lunch.

Rooms at Victoria House

The rooms are stylish and beautifully decorated, with touches from four-poster beds and Belizean wood furnishings to generous verandas with hammocks to relax in. They range from romantic standalone thatched casitas to suites with infinity pools and two to five-bedroom family-orientated villas, set amongst the manicured lawns. Whilst some are set by the pool or further back from the white sandy beach amongst the lush tropical gardens, they all have stunning beach views.

Food & drink

There are several dining and drinking options on offer. The Palmilla restaurant is a local hotspot, where you can enjoy a traditional Caribbean breakfast or dine on gourmet seafood and decadent desserts on the waterfront.

For something more low-key, eat al fresco at the poolside patio in between swims, or head to the Belizean-style Admiral Nelson’s Beach Bar for a cold beer and a tasty early-evening snack of fresh ceviche. Only metres from the water's edge and pier, this traditional palapa bar is a perfect setting to watch divers and fishermen return with their catch.

If you're celebrating a special occasion, dine by candlelight on the beach or the pier at your own private table beneath the stars.

Facilities

The lovely and impressive spa spans 3,500 square feet and is nestled amongst coconut palms and bougainvillea. In this idyllic setting, pamper yourself with a signature relaxation massage or a coco body polish. There is also a 500-square-foot fitness centre if you prefer a workout.

Activities at Victoria House

You're spoilt for choice here when it comes to things to see and do. The shallow sea lapping metres from the resort is perfect for a beach stroll and paddle, while snorkellers and divers should head to Shark Ray Alley and the world's second largest barrier reef, just off Ambergris Caye, where you'll find stingrays, nurse sharks and hundreds of tropical fish. For keen divers, the nearby enigmatic Blue Hole is a must: this is one of the most popular dive spots in the world. The resort has a dive shop on the pier.

Try cave tubing for something completely different, or alternatively, away from the water, take a trip to the mainland to visit some of the spectacular Mayan ruins in the area, or go birdwatching to see some of Belize's colourful birds.
