Hotel Overview

Where

On the northern shore of the island of Ambergris Caye in Belize.

Rooms at El Secreto

The 13 idyllic thatched-roof villas combine traditional touches with contemporary flair. You’ll find king-sized beds with Egyptian cotton linens, Belizean tropical woods, LED lighting, LCD TVs and iPod docks, marble bathrooms and a private outdoor Jacuzzi. The lake villas are set around a beautiful saltwater lake, while the sea villas are just a few steps away from the white sand beach and the ocean, and the spacious tropical villas are ideal for families.

Food and facilities

Enjoy delicious island cuisine from fresh seafood to tropical fruit at the beachfront restaurant, while making the most of the ocean views and the cool sea breeze. Relax before dinner with a massage in the Ikal spa to restore mind, body and spirit (‘Ikal’ means ‘spirit’ in Mayan).

Activities at El Secreto

Start the day with sunrise on the pier before snorkelling or paddle-boarding in the aquamarine waters- the barrier reef and its exotic marine life make this a hotspot for divers. Explore the island by bike, or head out on a boat trip to visit the stone temples of the ancient Mayan cities of Lamanai and Altun Ha, spotting crocodiles and monkeys along the way. The town of San Pedro, with its colourful beach bars, restaurants and boutiques, is 11 miles away. On your return to the hotel after a day’s sightseeing, relax in a hammock or a beachside cabana by the ocean.
