Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Rosyth Estate House is located in the countryside on the outskirts of Kegalle.

Rooms at Rosyth Estate House

With just eight rooms in total, you’ll encounter true home comfort here. Named after local spices, the rooms are individually designed and reflect the classic colonial style of the estate. Each room offers a powerful rainfall shower and stylish bathroom, as well as air conditioning and a ceiling fan.

For couples, the Clove or Mango classic rooms are an ideal choice but if you are travelling with the kids, we suggest either the Cardamom suite or the Coconut and Lime rooms, which interconnect. For something special, go for a plantation suite, either Tea or Pepper, for stunning views from the front elevation and an outdoor bath set on the balcony.

Food & Drink

Home cooking is the emphasis here, with traditional cuisine that incorporates organic, locally sourced ingredients. You’ll often be treated to homegrown produce and freshly-caught fish.

Facilities

Wake up in style with a complimentary introduction to yoga before heading straight for the Rock Spa, which offers a fusion of traditional Sri Lankan and Asian Ayurvedic and holistic treatments.

During the heat of the day you can relax in the shaded swimming pool and after dinner, kick back with a book from the library, or relax on the veranda atop the vibrant flora and fauna below.

Activities at Rosyth Estate House

Get stuck in with the workers and try your hand at tea plucking on the estate, before learning about the intricate tea making process at the local tea factory. Go for hikes or bicycle rides through the hills and paddy fields.

If you want to take something home with you, join the hands-on cooking class at the estate, and learn how to make Sri Lankan dishes such as a chicken curry or a vibrant aubergine and gotkola sambal. The hotel also has a family cookbook which you can buy; the proceeds are donated to the local school and community.
