Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

The hotel is in the town of Ella, on a tea-fringed hilltop with panoramic views below, including the nine-arch viaduct that inspired the hotel's name.

Rooms at Nine Skies

This charming hotel maintains its original colonial architecture whilst showcasing contemporary interiors. The rooms and suites are all elegantly decorated in neutral tones that create a light and airy ambience. They feature four-poster beds, antique furnishings and chic bathrooms with invigorating rain showers and deep-soaking bathtubs. Each room also has a private veranda which opens out onto a garden filled with colourful flowers, with views over the tea fields and the verdant south-eastern mountains in the distance.

Food & Drink

Dine at the hotel's relaxed restaurant, which serves delicious meals accompanied by stunning views of the landscaped gardens. Start your morning with a fulfilling breakfast, with both regional and international favourites on the menu. In the afternoon, enjoy an afternoon tea in the elegant sitting room, perfectly matched with a variety of teas grown in the area, as well as refreshing drinks served by the welcoming butlers. Dinner is comprised of expertly-prepared dishes, and can be savoured in the bungalow restaurant or on the garden veranda.

Facilities

Spend your day leisurely wandering through the hotel’s acres of private gardens, filled with lush greenery and colourful flowers, as well as a croquet lawn. Take a dip in the infinity pool, surrounded by the rolling tea hills, complete with comfortable sun loungers situated along the edge.

Activities at Nine Skies

No stay in Ella would be complete without a trip to one of the famed tea factories in the area, as well as a ride aboard the famous Yakada Yaka, or the 'Iron Devil' - the steam train which has journeyed through the region's mountains since the 19th century, transporting tea and people between Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Ella. The train is also a popular way for guests to arrive at the hotel!
