Hotel Overview

Sense of place

The Kumaon region of Uttarakhand is little-visited even by the standards of the Himalayas, and has diverse landscapes from rolling rice fields to steep mountain passes, dotted with temples and traditional villages. 360 Leti offers stunning views of the mountains from 8,000 feet.

Rooms at Leti 360

Accommodation at 360 Leti is spread across four striking cabins made of local wood, glass and stone, which have a futuristic aesthetic while reflecting their rugged natural environment. Locally produced sheepskin rugs and pashmina blankets warm the floors and the huge, cosy beds, which look out through two glass walls for stunning views of the Himalayas. Canvas blinds can be drawn for privacy, and solar-powered lanterns provide light at night; wood-burning stoves give warmth in the winter. The cabins each have a firepit which you can sit around of an evening and gaze out at the moonlit mountain peaks. Bathrooms are luxurious, all stone, teak and brass, with rain showers and locally produced products.

Food and drink

Dining at 360 Leti is flexible, with mealtimes arranged personally around your daily activities. The chef is Tibetan, and draws on the culinary traditions of his Himalayan homeland as well as those from across the world, with Indian, Continental and Middle Eastern food all on offer. Many of the vegetables used in the dishes are grown on-site in a greenhouse, with other ingredients coming from local suppliers. Like the cabins, the dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows through which you can gaze at the mountains as you eat.

Facilities

Yoga and meditation sessions are available by arrangement. An Ayurvedic masseur can also be arranged, but only with significant advance notice of at least a month. Extra beds are available, but given the extreme remoteness of 360 Leti’s location, the hotel is only suitable for older teenagers.

Activities at Leti 360

The best way to take in the views and explore this incredible region is on foot, and guided walks depart regularly from the hotel through the stunning Himalayan countryside. You’ll trek to a shrine dedicated to Shiva, which affords incredible views over the Ramganga Valley, Heeramani Glacier and the mountain of Nanda Kot. More strenuous treks can be arranged to combine with the Shakti Village Walks, which allow you to get an insight into the rich culture of local people who live in nearby villages. Cooking classes are available by arrangement back at the lodge.

Hotel location

360 Leti is not easy to get to. From Delhi you need to get to Almora, either by a private 1-hour flight to Pantnagar followed by a 4-hour drive; by car, which takes 8-9 hours; or by overnight train to Kathgodam followed by a 3-hour drive. Once you’ve reached Almora – where an overnight stay is included in your rate – it’s a 5-hour drive followed by a 1-hour walk. Much easier, though for a price, is a direct (weather-dependent) helicopter flight from Delhi to 360 Leti, which takes 2 hours.
