Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Shahpura Bagh sits in the beautiful countryside of Shahpura in Rajasthan.

Rooms at Shahpura Bagh

There is just a handful of luxurious and individually-styled suites set in the expansive gardens, ensuring a secluded and tranquil environment. They are exceptionally spacious, with limestone walls (made with a centuries-old technique), high ceilings and elegant arched doorways.

They also have supremely comfortable four-poster beds, antique furnishings, Kashmiri rugs, historic paintings and silk curtains, alongside elegant tiled bathrooms with cosy fireplaces. Wide doors let the light in and lead to the green and leafy gardens, and in the evenings, candles and music create a romantic atmosphere.

Food & drink

This is the place to try authentic home-cooked Rajasthani food, including tandoori specialities, made with home-grown, organic vegetables and prepared over a wood fire, crafted from recipes handed down through the generations. Dine in the drawing room or around a fire under the stars.

Facilities

Relax on the veranda, beneath the shade of the stone arches, sway in a hammock or enjoy a pot of tea on the immaculate lawns. There is a secluded, tree-lined pool to swim in, or while away an hour or two on a day bed in a poolside pavilion, with a drink from the bar.

Activities at Shahpura Bagh

As well as the farm, there are over 250 lakes here, which are home to around 180 species of birds, making this area a birdwatcher’s paradise. There are several walking trails around the lakes, and there are plenty of spots to sit and take in the stunning views and the spectacular sunsets – or head out on a leisurely boat trip, as wildfowl swoop on the water.

Shahpura and the surrounding area are also home to temples such as the beautiful Ramdwara, just outside the city, and laid-back villages, colourful markets and historic forts – visit the fort of Dhikhola, a 30-minute drive away.
