Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Rajasthan is commonly associated with the Thar Desert, but the surroundings of Alila Fort Bishangarh are surprisingly green, with the foothills of the Aravalli Mountains forming the backdrop.

Rooms at Alila Fort Bishangarh

Alila Fort Bishangarh’s rooms are fit for a Maharajah, with a design which combines traditional décor with modern standards of luxury, including state-of-the-art amenities. The doors are thick, hewn from dark wood and studded with bolts like the gates of Rajasthani forts, and the windows, with views out over the Aravalli Hills, are carved into intricate arches with wooden shutters. The bathrooms, like the floors, are clad in smooth marble.

Food & Drink

Perhaps the most magnificent space in the hotel is saved for the Amarsar restaurant, a high-ceilinged hall flanked by marble columns propping up huge arches, with tables dotted across a black-and-white tiled floor. The food is correspondingly magnificent, with a menu which seeks to bring together flavours from across the historic Silk Road. Sample dishes include Turkish lamb baklava, Afghan mantu dumplings and deconstructed chilli chicken.

There’s also Rajput cuisine at Nazaara, Indian tapas at Madhuveni, and poolside Mediterranean dishes at Haveli.

Facilities

Spa Alila is a wonderfully evocative space, decked out in Arabian Nights-style hanging lanterns, dark wood and recessed arch windows – the perfect place to put your feet up and indulge in a wide variety of relaxing wellness treatments. Signature therapies feature local medicinal herbs, and the massage treatments are inspired by Balinese traditions.

Activities at Alila Fort Bishangarh

The hotel’s extensive activities menu is on hand to help you unlock some truly unforgettable experiences in the Land of Kings. Meet local artisans and discover their centuries-old techniques for carpet weaving and making pottery and jewellery, visit the desert temple of Kalka Mata Mandir, and learn all about the milk production process at a local dairy.

If you’re feeling energetic, go for a trek in the Aravalli Hills, or embark on a camel safari into the desert.
