From maharajas and princes to celebrities and entertainers, the century-old Taj Mahal Palace is a Florentine-influenced icon, as famous as the guests who have checked in. Hotel Overview

Sense of place

The Taj Mahal Palace is poised overlooking the Arabian Sea with the colourful vibrancy of the city at its feet.

Rooms at Taj Mahal Palace

An architectural curry of Gothic, Greco-Roman, Islamic and Rajasthan influences seasoned with a dollop of Florentine touches, the rooms are spread across the palace and tower and veer between colonial and contemporary. Many house artworks and antiques, while some have views overlooking the sea.

Our favourite, located on the top floors of the Palace Wing, are the Taj Club rooms, which have rosewood floors, high ceilings and luxurious Italian marble bathrooms.

Food & Drink

With some of the most renowned fine-dining restaurants in India gathered under its roof, the Taj Mahal Palace offers a wealth of gastronomic choices. Dine on innovative Japanese cuisine in the famous Wasabi by Morimoto, head to Blue Ginger for exquisite Vietnamese cuisine, or watch the live cooking stations in Masala Kraft while sipping on a lip-smacking cocktail.

Facilities

As well as an outdoor and indoor swimming pool, the hotel has a divine spa, where you can indulge in a treatment or be groomed by the team of stylists in the beauty salon. Ther eis also an art gallery, which celebrates the artistic activity in India, especially that of the younger generation of artists who work with painting, sculpture and a range of experimental media – definitely worth a look!

Activities at Taj Mahal Palace

Though you can sightsee from your bedroom window, step out onto Wellington Pier to stand under the impressive Gateway of India. Follow this with a trip to the old British quarter, Colaba, to see masala tea being brewed on the pavement stalls, buy knick-knacks along the causeway and take a break in the popular Leopold Café.
