Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Sugati Retreat is nestled in 10 acres of gardens, surrounded by lush forest in Munnar, overlooking the Sahyadri Mountains of the Western Ghats and the valley below, and offers a true escape.

Rooms at Sugati Retreat

With just a handful of rooms, this is an intimate and cosy hideaway. Each colonial-style room has been designed with relaxation and comfort in mind, with traditional touches combined with a chic and modern twist. Plush beds are set beneath high wooden-beamed ceilings, and both the rooms and the deluxe and spacious bathrooms have panoramic views over the valley.

Food & Drink

Dining here is a rejuvenating experience, with an emphasis on farm-fresh and organic foods - low in fat and high in nutrients, and utilising Ayurvedic wellness principles. Enjoy some of India's finest traditional dishes along with international cuisine created with vegetables and herbs from the retreat’s own organic gardens and fresh produce from local organic farmers.

Foodies can indulge in a culinary experience, picking ingredients from the gardens, finding out some secrets of Keralan cooking from an expert chef, and learning how to mix fragrant spices to make a traditional masala.

Facilities

Wellness and the principles of holistic living and ancient Ayurveda wisdom are at the heart of this resort, with a variety of Ayurveda treatments and natural therapies on offer. These are all aimed at cultivating physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, including meditation, aromatherapy and massages (Sugati’s signature massage features sandalwood and lavender oil), along with yoga classes each morning and evening – the best way to start and end your day!

If you’re not relaxed enough already, the library is a tranquil spot to sit and read a book.

Activities at Sugati Retreat

The retreat borders reserve forests where you can enjoy scenic walks and see a variety of birds – if you’re a keen birdwatcher, an expert bird guide can accompany you. Spices such as cardamom are grown here, and you can visit spice plantations, as well as tea estates, to see how tea is grown, picked and processed, taste different types of tea, and explore the plantations, set in the hills and valleys.
