Hotel Overview

Sense of place

Right in the heart of the regal city of Mysore, and surrounded by acres of lush landscaped gardens, Royal Orchid Metropole’s princely heritage is evident throughout.

Rooms at Royal Orchid Metropole

Rooms at Royal Orchid Metropole are luxurious and traditional in design, with a choice of the Royal, Heritage or Maharajah suites; all combine an old-world, royal aesthetic with modern amenities and luxury. Royal suites feature beautiful views of the hotel’s courtyard and lawns, and Heritage rooms have unique, minimalist four poster beds. So too do Maharajah suites, which are elegant, opulent and fit for a king.

Food and drink

Royal Orchid Metropole features a range of dining options to keep foodies satisfied, encompassing cuisines from all over the world. At Shikari, the hotel’s al fresco dining option, delicious barbecued dishes from across the globe are served up in a beautiful outdoor setting. For a more gourmet dining experience, head to Tiger Trail, where an array of traditional Indian dishes are served up, with an emphasis on the kebabs and grilled meat offerings of the northern frontier. For light bites and an extensive range of spirits and other beverages, head to the glitzy Scandel bar, while High Tea is the place to go for a traditional afternoon brew.

Facilities

Royal Orchid Metropole’s beautiful outdoor swimming pool is a great spot for a dip when the heat gets too much, and the hotel also features a fully-equipped fitness centre so you can keep on top of your fitness regime while you’re away.

Activities at Royal Orchid Metropole

Mysore is justly renowned for its majestic regal monuments, chief among which is the beautiful Mysore Palace. One of the grandest royal buildings in India, the palace remains the home of the royal family of Mysore and is a ten minute drive, or 25 minute walk, from the hotel. The Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens are pretty and home to rhinos, lowland gorillas and white tigers. A great half-day excursion is the trek to the top of Chamundi Hill, were you’ll find the Sri Chamundeswari Temple, a popular pilgrimage spot for Hindus which also affords spectacular views of Mysore.
