Hotel Overview

Sense of Place

Soneva Jani is on the island of Medhufaru in the Maldives’ beautiful Noonu Atoll.

Rooms at Soneva Jani

The secluded overwater villas and island retreats sit on the crystal-clear aquamarine waters of an idyllic and private lagoon, or alongside sweeping sandy beaches and tranquil gardens, and the interiors are beautifully designed using sustainable materials. They range from one to four bedrooms, and each one has its own stretch of lagoon, a private pool and a retractable roof so you can stargaze from your bedroom.

Some of the villas have slides from the top floor straight into the lagoon, and the open-air bathrooms also have lagoon access, or you can swing over the water in a basket swing… the choice is yours! The vast Water Reserves have panoramic views over the lagoons, expansive terraces and freshwater pools, and many have curved water slides into the water. The Island Reserves are surrounded by jungle and have gorgeous indoor and outdoor spaces and private gym and spa suites.

After a swim, relax on deck and take in the views over the Indian Ocean. You won’t have to lift a finger here - you’ll have your own Mr or Mrs Friday throughout your stay, so make the most of the butler service!

Food & Drink

Enjoy exquisite meals including seafood and fruit, vegetables and herbs from the resort’s gardens. Tuck into wood-fired pizzas, a tasty grill from the live cooking stations or a tapas and cocktails combo. Soneva Jani's range of fabulous dining options include So Wild, a plant-based menu curated by chef Diana Von Cranach, featuring ingredients from the hotel’s organic gardens, Overseas, showcasing fresh seafood, and So Primitive, featuring grilled meats and fish cooked over a central fire pit.

For dessert, choose from over 60 flavours of ice-cream and beautiful handmade chocolates. To drink, there's fresh tropical fruit juices from the juice bar and a wine cellar where you can pick the perfect wine to accompany your meal.

Fancy lunch on a private island, prepared by the chef, or an exclusive dining experience at the observatory, under the stars? No problem!

Facilities

Unwind in the spa, which sits above a stunning five-kilometre lagoon, and there is also a gym and a yoga pavilion. Head to the library on the top deck of The Gathering, which is full of books on the Maldives and its colourful underwater world, where you can plan your next adventure.

Activities at Soneva Jani

As well as relaxing on the beach and swimming and snorkelling in the azure waters (enjoy guided snorkelling trips with the resident biologist), there is a PADI dive centre to help you make the most of the lagoon’s rich marine life. You can also go on dolphin-spotting cruises and visit nearby islands and their villages.

In the evening, watch a classic movie under the stars at the beautiful overwater Cinema Paradiso, and do more serious stargazing at the observatory.

Children will love the Den, where they can do anything from dressing up and playing Lego to enjoying activities around the island. They'll also love exploring the Labyrinth, a giant maze in the hotel's extensive gardens, while the Soneva Academy offers fun educational courses for children and teenagers, on subjects such as the marine life and the night sky in the Maldives, and navigation on land and sea.
